Ascent Trip ReportTook West Ridge Trail to peak. Trail was nice with about an inch or so of fresh snow. Above treeline grew considerably colder and windier. Once the fire tower came into view, the wind was roaring and very strong, pushy. Goggles and mask and a thicker winter hat were sorely needed. Rested on tower stairs to block wind and put on spikes. High-tailed it off the peak quickly. Whole hike took a bit over an hour.
Side note: Kia Soul could not get traction on Cardigan Mountain Road (unpaved), so was forced to walk/jog the 1.5 miles in and out. |
A lil snowy cairn on the West Ridge Trail -- I believe this one points right to an AMC junction or something. The trail to the left goes to the peak (2017-11-17). Photo by Evan Mugford.
