Ascent Trip Report

After Mt. Hallback, we headed to Mt. Mitchell, the highest point in the eastern USA. From the park restaurant to the summit, the Old Mitchell Trail was rough, rocky, and rooty, with a lot of ups and downs. Once at the summit, we took some celebratory pics, checked the area out a bit, then returned to the car at Stepps Gap.
