Ascent Trip ReportMeghan and I hiked Black Dome, Thomas Cole, and Blackhead from the DEC lot at the end of Big Hollow Rd. We took the trail up to the col between Black Dome and Blackhead. From the col, we headed toward Black Dome first. Jake and Lindsay were to join us for at least the beginning of the hike but there was confusion about trailheads so we didn't meet up with them until part way up the trail toward Black Dome. We all enjoyed some time in the sun on the summit of Black Dome before they had to head back home and Meg and I kept moving toward Thomas Cole. After reaching the summit of Thomas Cole we backtracked to the Black Dome/Blackhead col and continued on to Blackhead. We took the trail down past the Batavia Kill lean-to back to the car. |
