Ascent Trip Report

After failing to find the correct access road on the west side of the peak that would take me to the top last Tuesday, Dean Gaudet emailed me to clarified his driving route to the summit; in addition, he posted his GPS track on Peakbagger showing his driving route to the summit. Dean's GPS track starts at Highway 15 and follows Quarry Road, Puma Road, Oro Grande Canyon Road, and the service road to the top. The roads from Highway 15 turn into dirt after a short while, and probably requires a high clearance vehicle to drive to the service road. The service road is about 1.4 miles long, but as Dean mentioned, is potholed, has hairpin turns, and is rugged even though some of it is paved, and I would add is steep, possibly requiring a 4x to get up. After summiting, Kelley and I returned to Highway 15 the same way that we drove in.
