Ascent Trip Report

I've been to the top several different ways but here's the best (my favorite). Driving to the emerald lake trailhead there is a trail a few hundred yards (definitely not more than a quarter mile) before that that goes left with parking on the right. Go up this. The trails ends on the ridge after about 2.5 miles. Stay on the ridge top and head south to the peak. There is one mini peak (2nd point before Chisholm) that is best pasted on the east side. After summiting continue (staying on ridge crest for exciting exposure) to overlook and then head north along the ridge top to "Gail peak" point 10,161 (according to outdated climbers guide to Montana) there is a big bowl here across from emerald lake and is probably the best place to descend from the ridge although one can get off the ridge several different places after overlook (or keep going passed Flanders). Fallow the trail back to your car saying hi to many people and watching out for bikers. Whole route can be kept to class 2 and isn't too tuff if your in shape (I've done it after work)
