Ascent Trip ReportAfternoon hike of Burke Mountain, via an out and back using the Red, West Peak, and Summit Trails. Started out with easy grades and good footing, then got steeper and rockier/wetter/muddier as I got closer to the top. Passed by a few lean-tos as well. The summit was open and rocky with good views. There was a fire tower on the top as well, which probably had great views from the top deck, but I only climbed the first set of stairs due to high wind. Cut over to the top of the auto road and retraced my steps from there. |
