Ascent Trip Report

Relaxed hike in Gary Giacomini Open Space up to the high point of San Geronimo Ridge overlooking remote Kent Lake, part of the Mt. Tamalapais Watershed.

There is only one pullout on Sylvestris Lane, the single lane road leading to the trailhead and it was not taken, thankfully (though there's another a few hundred yards uphill). The fire road winds slowly uphill through a fir and hardwood forest, emerging at the crest after a bit more than a mile. You can see south across the watershed to Pine Mountain and Mt. Tam behind. If you wanted a longer hike this is a good way to access Pine Mountain, a Marin County P1K.

Turning right I continued steeply uphill to the summit which lies a hundred feet into the woods, then continued west, downhill and followed the Hunt Camp trail to meet up with my uphill route.
