Ascent Trip Report

We parked at the trailhead for the Cherry Run Trail. This rocky but well cleared trail got us to a bit under a half mile from the hp coordinates. After bushwhacking up to the old railroad grade we soon encountered another trail--unmarked and not totally clear but easier than bushwhacking. We bushwhacked the last 0.17 mi. On the way back we followed this trail for some distance but eventually it became clear it was headed in the wrong direction and we bushwhacked to the road about 0.3 mi. NW of our parkng spot. This took us about 0.4 mi. farther and about 10 minutes longer than the route up (despite the advantage of down hill). I thought the route up was much better, although my companion Alan did not agree.
