Ascent of Mount Frissell-South Slope on 2017-09-30
|Date:||Saturday, September 30, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Mount Frissell-South Slope|
| Elevation:||2372 ft / 722 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFound the parking area after nearly driving right past it. Easy to find the trailhead when you know that you are looking for red blazes. No signs at all which seemed to confuse a few others at the trail area. Temperatures were cold -- mid 40s with rain and fog and wind. Not what I was hoping for, as the few steep rocky sections were now very slippery, but it is a pretty area. Nice forests all around. The CT highpoint itself is of course underwhelming since it is at a random spot on the mid-section of the trail past the true summit of the peak. No signs bit the high rock pile and ammo box register make it easy to spot. I imagine a few people could miss it if they were lost in thought or something.
