Ascent Trip ReportDIRECTIONS
Senator Hwy from downtown Prescott is only 2 minutes slower by Google maps but apparently a better road than Walker. I didn't even see the Walker Road route junction while on the mountain. Google will take you to within 1.5 miles of the summit. There are a shocking number of houses and private properties on the peak.
I nabbed this and other AZ CoHPs while on a conference trip to Las Vegas. Everything in AZ is geologically interesting. I look forward to doing more peaks in AZ!
Pulled off the side of the road and hiked 261 to the top. Climbed the tower for views and pictures. Bushwacked straight West back to the road which took more time and a bit of effort because of the road grade slope.
1/1 ACCESS - straightforward with a map/GPS
0/2 REMOTENESS (Popularity, Sight/Sound) - didn't meet anyone else on the road in or out until far at the bottom, but the development steals any charm
1/1 CONDITION - road hike
1/3 VARIETY (Flora and Fauna, Geological, Terrain) - unique ridge geology, lots of forestry, not much else
2/3 VIEWS - expansive views
(does not include difficulty since hikers may prefer opposite extremes)
