Ascent Trip ReportSee GPS track - Turned this into a Forestry road hike starting from the nearest gate to the adjacent provisional Felgar Road "Peak" (a fracking site).
From the locked gate I hiked the forestry roads to Bald Knob. There were a few sites that appeared to be hunt camps along the way with informal fire rings, so this may be a nice area to low-key camp for $0 after a hike in. I didn't see another soul all day.
Beware the unnamed road that is blocked off with boulders on both ends dips into a valley and becomes an ankle-depth swamp that you'll have to wade through for at least 10 yards if it has rained recently.
The dept of the Interior summit marker is actually fenced in at the very back radio tower.
Also beware that the road leading down to the gate is steep, rough, and muddy, recommend high-clearance AWD or 4x4, but can be done in a 2WD sedan with patience under most conditions.
