Ascent Trip Report

Macomb and Hough! I got advice from Mark of the ADK 46ers on which way was his favorite. He said to go from the Elk Lake lodge, up the macomb slide, over macomb, to sDix, to Hough, and down the lillian brook. It was incredible. I had decent weather, and I met a nice guy who went out to Grace peak.
I had rain and downpour, but I was ok with it. There was a nice break in the mid day, and when I started the hike- the moon was out. Excellent!!
I made good time on the way in, but overall I was 9 hours and I had about 2-3 days of recovery to normal. I wasnt hurting like a lot of hikes. Cliff and Redfield.... looking at you... but if I had to stay overnight I might have been in trouble, thermally. It was downpouring, and I was overheating and sweating. So any time I stopped, I was soaked and cold.

Also, when I switched bags at my parents house, I accidentally left my gps in my bag. And it stayed behind- it's fine, I always have extra compasses and maps, but it was a bummer since my planning fell flat. I wouldnt have gone out without my compass had I left it behind, but I always hide extra ones in the interior of my bags just in case.
