Ascent Trip ReportWe decided to try Ishpatina Ridge North from the summit of Ishpatina Main. We took 3h45 to climb on top of Ishpatina Main with the first part on our mountain bikes. The route to the top of Ishpatina Main was flagged all the way to the summit, no more bushwhack even along the lake.
The view of Ishpatina Ridge North from the summit of Ishpatina Main is daunting. You have to drop down 180 meters to the valley floor and then find a way to climb back up to the summit through the rock face in a dense bushwhack. Line of sight is 2.1 km one way, but it took us 3.4 km to get to the top of Ishpatina Ridge North in 2 and a half hours. The way back is as hard and it took us 3 hours, I was spent, completely dehydrated as it was over 30c on that day and I had brought only 1.5 liters of water. In normal temperature, I think it would have taken me 4 hours for the 7 km bushwhack from Ishpatina Main to Ishpatina Ridge North and back.
Then, we went down from the summit of Ishpatina Main to Scarecrow lake where we left our tent and sleeping bags. It was a long 11 hours day in hot weather but we managed to bag both Ishpatina summits in a day.
