Ascent Trip ReportThis is my second peak of the day. I drove over from San Antonio Peak which I had done early that morning, going north on US-285 to Antonito, CO, turning right (east) onto E-8th Ave which turns into G Road. Stayed on G Road for sometime, crossing over the Rio Grande, eventually hitting a "T" intersection with 7 Road. Turned right (south) on 7 Road until it encounters 8 Road on the left, then got on 8 Road. Once 8 Road crossed B Road I started using Ken Jones TR instructions which are spot on. Once you turn off State Line Road to TP-235 you enter Rio Grande del North National Monument which marked with a sign on your right. The road to the trailhead is on a marked road although it is rutted and rough in spots.
The hike: Best to have a GPS track for this climb. I followed Ken Jones track which starts off following an old 4WD road then picks up various trails and cairns. Overall a very rocky hike. Since I started the hike mid-day, the hike was warm with little breeze. I thought I'd never get to the high point since its tucked away in the trees atop a rocky outcrop. There is a summit log.
