Ascent Trip ReportI came up the East Ridge per Richard Carey's TR. This was horrid, heinous, horrendous, and any other H word you wish to toss out there...
3 major and 4 to 5 minor false summits. Probably 4k gain if I had returned that way?
Small plate like talus the whole way. I descended the NE gullies and slopes to a lake, and caught a ride to my suv from some je e pers.
3 1/2 up. 59 min d own to the lake, and I probably would have needed close to an hour more to walk to my car if I had needed to.
The lake can be reached via a moderate 4wd road, perhaps a 3 of 10. My rental nissan rogue could have done it, and it's junk...
I hear that some climb from the south side, by Virginia Lakes. That's crazy, straight up volcanic crud cliffs. This is one peak I likely wouldn't go back to.
