Ascent Trip Report

Looking across from the North Sister I continue to wonder about the nice peak across the creek called elephant butte. It looked like a fun backcountry scramble bushwhack. So Tim and I set a bearing and headed across the park for it. It is an easy bushwhack and you cross a dirt road twice before you come to the creek. The creek is easy to cross. On the way up and ran into several use trails and eventually stumbled on to a well maintained trail as part of the Denver Parks but it does not show up on google nor any of the park maps. not know what it does, and finding a wonderful class 3 wall, Tim and I elected to do about a 350 foot scramble up to the top. The route we found was classic 3 with little exposure and great hand holds. The views were good at the top. Another man stumbled up at the top and explained that the trails we found would in fact take us to the other parking lot in 3-sisters park (the one you can see from the summit not the one we were parked at) There is a really nice sign in package nestled in a dead tree just down from the summit near where the trail heads off. We took the trail back down most of the way but then bushwhacked our way back to the 3-sister park. I would do this scramble route again. It was a fun line.
