Ascent Trip Report

Just north of mile marker 25 there is a small turnout on the east side of the highway with a sign noting "Big Laguna Trail to PCT" Parked at the turnout and followed the trail to the PCT, turning left on the PCT until reaching a use trail leading to the summit. The trail to this point was shaded by pine trees. Once on the use trail to the summit, there was not much shade. The summit was covered with communication towers, but offered a beautiful view of the dessert to the east. Hays Peak (to the north west) looked reachable via a fire break, so decided to bag that peak as well. Returned back toward Monument Peak and followed the use trail back to the PCT and to the parking lot.
