Ascent Trip ReportI ascended this more-or-less directly from the Twin Lakes saddle, cutting slightly around to the east before starting off the ECT. I scrambled over a minor false-summit on the way up. By the easiest possible route this is probably a class 2 ascent.
I descended to our camp at Twin Lakes, packed up all my overnight+ gear, then descended to the TH. The trail has been rerouted to an old road near the bottom (washouts?).
When we arrived at the TH, Lance & Nathan had discovered that one of the tires had acquired a nail and wasn't suitable for driving all the way out with all of us. After requesting/receiving some rides for two of the crew (Nathan and Alyssa - retrieve shuttle car), three of us walked a short stretch to the car, loaded all the packs in. I started down the rough road agonizingly slowly, with Amy and Lance walking down behind. At some point they hitched a ride and we all eventually made it back out to Hwy-7.
Les Schwab in Baker City had fantastic service repairing our damaged tire.
I-84 closed while we were on our way home, rerouting us through Govt. Camp (down tree at Rhododendron). It was quite the experience getting home. |
