Ascent Trip ReportParked at the Camel's Hump Rd. trail head. The lots were almost completely full, as was the road, but our decision to day trip up from Massachusetts was rewarded by exactly one empty spot when we arrived just after 11am. Took Burrows to the LT and summited in about two hours. The trail was practically a stream in many spots, as the remnants of Harvey gave the mountain a good soaking the day before. We found a nice spot behind some boulders on the east side of the summit to eat lunch. We were just two hikers among literally dozens enjoying the views. Took the LT south to Forest City, then the short connector back to the parking area. The map guides recommended doing the loop we did counterclockwise, but I am glad we did it the other way. Burrows is a nice trail up, and climbing down the Long Trail, both above the treeline and along the boulder-strewn path, afforded numerous opportunities to stop and enjoy the sights as well as the challenge. Total trip time around four hours, plus about 30 minutes for lunch. Distance according to the guide is 5.8 miles, we clocked 5.7, so close enough.
