Ascent Trip Report***Private Outing***
Just me, Tanya, and Maya for a dayhike out of Virginia Lakes. Gorgeous day. Good peak. Great trail from Virginia Lakes TH up to the pass at 11,100', cross country to the peaks from there. We were a little depressed about the slog up the red mountain, followd by the slog up North Excelsior and then the final push to Excelsior proper. But the views up there made it all worth it, even with the smokey skies.
Mileage and gain for entire trip: 9.6 RT miles, 3,000' gain. 7.5 hours for the round trip.
