Ascent Trip ReportThis was a hike/scramble to the summit of Three Way Peak, mostly following the PCT from Chinook Pass up & over Sourdough Gap.
We had a lot of company on the trail this sunny Saturday in July: the parking lot was nearly full when we arrived just before 8am, and overflowing for a long ways in both directions by the time we returned around 2pm. We didn't see many people on our way in, but there were a sure a lot heading in as we were on our way out! The same goes for Sheep Lake: we saw a few folks there early in the morning, but it was really busy by the time we came back through around noon.
Trail is in great shape; no obstacles. The bugs were out, but really didn't seem too bad-- especially compared to last weekend at Tolmie Peak. There is some shade on the first half of this trail, but that gives way to full sunshine soon enough. Fantastic wildflower display out on the exposed slopes, though! |
