Ascent Trip ReportSolo hike of the Sugar Bush Ridge line, starting from the Lincoln gap trailhead, going north on the Long Trail hitting: Abraham, Little Abe, Lincoln, Nancy Hanks Peak, Cutts Peak and Mount Ellen. When I hit Abraham I was socked in a first, but the clouds cleared and gave me views of both the Whites, and the ADK high peaks. A constant 30mph wind with gusts much higher kept things very cold. The temps already being in the mid 30's was only slightly balanced out by the intermitent sunshine. Overall, very easy trail to follow, a small carrin and some flags marked the top of Mount Ellen. From Mount Ellen, I could easily see Camels Hump and Mount Mansfield. |
