Ascent Trip Report

From the lowerTH i decided to scope out the road to upper. About 1/4 mile into the road there was a pronounced mud hole which looked too much for the van so I backed out to a sweet camp spot just down the road. Just to the right of the hole sat a man (Julian) and his Saab with a dead battery. I had already backed out so he rolled down to my camp spot and I gave him a jumpstart.
Started hiking at 6am and reached the upper TH in 45 min. The road is mostly good with a few rocky bits here and there and one show stopper mud hole. Plenty of parking nearby. The upper meadow is beautiful along the right side of the road. I was glad I hadn't taken the van. The trail is easy to follow and really well built. The upper part after the saddle is steep and at times tricky to keep from sliding. The view of the east face from the saddle is impressive. The summit was nice, made it by 930. Only 4 others up there. I stayed 1 hrbefore descending. Clouds were building but not bad. Forecast was for t storms by 3 pm. I passed 3 others coming up. None more after that. Rained a little on the descent nothing major. Walked the road back to the car in 30min. Good hike.
