Ascent Trip Report

Who went: Tina and Connor

Distance: 3.2 miles RT-out and back.

Time: 1 hour and 20 minutes to the summit and almost the same coming down.

Weather: Beautiful day! We went in the morning of course so temps were low 70s all day and we had blue skies with some clouds. Not too humid, very pleasant.

It was great to have Connor along for the day and for Tina to spend time with him as well. Had a chance to talk in the car a bit as well. Connor led the way the whole day and he waiting for us for the most part. Went ahead to the summit at the end and was sitting at the top of the tower when we reached the peak. The top of the tower was closed and the fencing was missing is a lot of places toward the top. Not in good condition, Tina didn’t even go to the top because of it. The building on the summit was in disrepair as well. We spent about 30 minutes at the summit enjoying the weather and chatting with a couple.
Trail was fairly mudding and had clear water running down it a lot of the way due to heavy rains this past week. Bugs weren’t too bad and the road to the trailhead was not as bad as people had written about. Although Beth hated this hike, I didn’t think it was bad at all. Short with steep ascent-1.6 miles up with 1,500 elevation gain so the heart was pounding.
