Ascent Trip ReportWe climbed from Ice Lake to the saddle between Craig and Razzberry Mountains. (See my Razzberry Mountain report also). After climbing Razzberry, we regained the saddle and then proceeded up Craig. From the saddle, we kept within 75 feet of the ridge crest on the Ice Lake side (NW Face) side to avoid the cliffs on the southern side. The first 1/4 if fine, as it is more open and not hard to route-select. As you get up higher the trees, rocks and shrubs become more entangled and harder to pass by. Staying a bit lower makes this a bit easier, but you still need to pass through a few hundred feet of this stuff before aiming for the ridge, as you need to pass the southern cliffs. Battle your way to the ridge crest when you are between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way up from the saddle. There is not going to be an obvious spot that you will be able to reference for when, but you will know if you hit it too early as it will be a cliff on the other side. When you do gain the ridge, you will find on the other side some goat paths, dirt tracks, boulders, a bit of rock and easy going. It is now just a matter of picking your path towards the false summit and once there, the summit. Nothing technical, or exposed on this one. The crux seems to be fighting your way through the brush/trees to the ridge.
Awesome views from the summit of Ice Lake!
