Ascent Trip Report

Great little hike! I never knew any kind of trail system was out here. After 3 days in the ADKs, this was a nice change of pace. There was already a car in the small parking area on East Street when arrived. The trail heading up Fissell is blazed in red and easy to follow. A tough little climb up Fissell. Views were great from Round and Brace. Reaching the tri-point of three states was kind of neat too (there's cell service if you want to check in on social media). Being a Monday I was surprised to see up to 8 people on the summit of Brace. They had all hiked up from the NY side. There was a party of 4 ahead of me, but never saw them (they signed the registers on Fissell and the CT HP). I read later that the trail from Brace leading back to Mt Washington Road in CT is closed to the public by the nature conservatory that owns the land, but there was no signs saying such thing until the very end. I wouldn't worry about it. When I got back to my car, there was a different car parked next to mine then when I arrived. Shocked that there would be much traffic way out here on a Monday, but it is a state HP.
