Ascent Trip ReportI had tried to find a road to get closer to the HP, a few years ago. There were many gates and private land signs, so it I had to come back later and hike the PCT to this one. My son and I took the Soda Springs exit off of I-5 and drove a parking area just before the bridge. We walked over the bridge and down the road a hundred yards or so, until we saw the PCT trail. We followed the PCT for approximately five miles until it met with a logging road and exited the park. Our track did not seem to follow the PCT as displayed on CA TOPO. The HP is at the east exit. There are gorgeous views of Shasta and the surrounding area to the northeast. On the way back, near the end, we crossed a dirt road and elected to take it back as the GPS track shows. This truly was an awesome hike.
