Ascent Trip ReportBefore this hike I visited the summits of Mont Pinacle in Quebec and Brosseau and Averill in Vermont.
The Magolloway trail climbs from the northside TH on an easy to moderate grade to the wooded summit's Fire Tower ..... the cabin is closed, however the views from the top flight of stairs just below the cabin are outstanding, a 360 degree panorama of mountains as far as the eye can see. I believe the actual High Point is to the left of the trail (in the woods) at a height of land just before the Tower.
DIRECTIONS TO THE TH
From Pittsburg drive north on Hwy #3 past First Connecticut Lake to Magalloway road on the right (11 miles from hwy jct #3/145 in Pittsburg). Turn right on the dirt road, cross a bridge and continue straight. Stay left at 2.2mi and at 2.9mi. Make a sharp turn right at 5.3mi, bear right at 6.3mi and drive to the end of the road at 8.4mi. This is the TH .... parking and a toilet is available.
