Ascent of Morton Peak on 2017-08-10
|Date:||Thursday, August 10, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||Canada-British Columbia|
| Elevation:||7382 ft / 2250 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFrom SW, Enderby, Mabel Lake Rd (where my GPS track starts) then forest roads, as per Mclellans route, I went up their downward track for the hike. V dry conditions, road fine in RAV4, would have been ok in 2wd too. A few downed trees across track but have been cut back to fit an SUV. No sign of bears of any colour. Nor vehicles other than a helicopter
Lovely flowery meadows, old timber lookout at summit (N50.76551° W118.84278°) has a trig plaque nearby; according to a notice inside, its access road came up from Sicamous ie NW. The present one heads down that way but presumably links with the one used for my ascent. Smoke free but no distant views. Warm and sunny. 1h30 up, 15 mins at summit, 1hr back down to car.
Then after a McDonald's / WiFi session, round to Pukeashun for the lengthy drive in.
