Ascent Trip Report

After reading trip reports on Peakbagger and Summitpost I opted to start the hike at the ridgeline about .7 of mile west of the corrals. Not only does it minimize bushwhacking but also shortens the distance and elevation gain. I parked just off the road across from a very obvious cut-out excavation site (36°47'29"N 105°14'33"). I headed directly north into the trees, over a fence to a tall grass meadow, where I headed up in a northwesterly direction. Ran right into the trail which parallels a fence line. About the fence: Its really an old barbwire fence mostly lying on its side so not easily visible in many places. A trail parallels it, crossing over it multiple times as it makes it way northward up a ridge line. Eventually it hits treeline where the trail ends then picks up on the west side of peak-12123 before ending again. From there its simply a matter of heading up passing over several false summits.
