Ascent Trip ReportThe county top of Surrey, highest point in south-east England and a Marilyn. Part of a National Trust estate with woodland, heathland, farmland, parkland and Leith Hill Place, home of composer Vaughan Williams, in addition to the famous gothic Leith Hill Tower on the summit.
Climbed on the due date of my first-born child. Jill heroically managed the walk from the car park and the 74 steps of the spiral staircase up to the top of the tower to become the highest pregnant person within at least 50 miles. Our gorgeous Twm arrived 2 weeks later and began his own illustrious Peakbagging career shortly thereafter. |
