Ascent Trip Report

SE Ridge route. 530am start. Summit at 1030. The route is beautiful but arduous. It's all uphill all the time. The good news is, no one will be there to see you suffer. I saw 6 people on the route all day. Except for the summit where there was a constant 20 people up there. I've not done the other route but I'm thinking it's not as difficult as this one as you avoid summing south Elbert and resummiting on the return trip. The decent is no joke either, steep! The views of La Plata and Ellingwood ridge are impressive as are the views of Massive from the summit. My favorite views are from where you get to look down upon the meadow below. Lots of pika and marmots.
