Ascent Trip ReportParked at the state park parking lot and tried two ways to ascend this "peak"
The first I found some use trail down the side of the mountain and hiked them as far as I could but the green briers were the worst I have ever seen in my life. THe species in Oregon can get up to an inch in diameter with huge thorns. After shredding my arms and hiked up and summited but was not satisfied, so I ran into a lady that walks up the road every day and she recommended hiking down Bald Peak Road to SW Melott Road and I headed down there to the low point in the road and creek bottom and made that my second trailhead up.
Decent views; but hardly a state park. But thankfully a public place to grab a prominence peak. There was a crazy hot spell coming in. Today was just under 100F but they say by Thursday it will reach 107 or 108F. Incredible for the far northwest in summer!
