Ascent Trip Report

I climbed Parker Mountain on a Sunday afternoon while visiting some short hikes in the area. I took the Spencer Smith Trail to the summit, which reaches a good viewpoint in just 0.3 miles. The ascent is steep and rocky initially, but becomes more gradual in some nice forest and ledges. There is a nice rocky area with decent views before the summit, while the summit itself is a viewless clearing with a huge cairn. I followed the trail 0.7 miles past the summit, as it descends through more fine ledgy areas and eventually ends at a large open ledge area with the best views. It took me a while to find the best spot to look at Bow Lake; it seems to be further down and just left of center. Overall, I found Parker to be a pleasant and rewarding mountain with its scenic forests and ledges and scattered viewpoints, even though it does not boast any single spectacular vista.
