Ascent Trip Reporti was kind of disappointed by the lack of views on this P4k. i took forsyth creek trail because it was advertised as being shaded: yep, it is. i probably didn't even have to apply sunscreen today. i'd spend 95% of the day in the cover of trees, with no views.
it seems everyone makes their own way through the trees after you get to the saddle between burger and signal peaks. i aimed for the saddle itself, then went up the ridge. the forest is fairly amenable to cross-country travel here, light understory, with manageable downfall.
the summit was popular: a group of 6 was there when i arrived; a group of 3 showed up before i left (and this doesn't include two different horse-riding groups who stopped at a viewpoint near burger). the locals indicated there were various other potential places to get a view, one of which was burger peak. i would have skipped burger peak (below my prom cutoff), but i really wanted to see something. so that's where i headed after signal.
today was moist: there was rain overnight. the air was humid enough that i ended up head to toe covered in sweat on the way up, my clothes unable to dry fast enough. fortunately a half hour on the summit was enough for some drying. the creek was still flowing, water was available 2.5mi to 3mi from the trailhead. on the way out, with 2mi left to go, rain kicked in, fierce. it threatened with a bit of hail, but mostly stayed as heavy rain.
