Ascent Trip ReportStarted from the Indian Valley Trailhead. The first 4 miles of the trail is very overgrown and unpleasant, but gradually changes into some beautiful alpine country. We set up camp about 5.5 miles in and continued another 1.5 miles up the valley with day packs before turning right and hiking up the south face of Shaman Dome. The summit is about 8 miles from the trailhead and took us 4.5 hours to reach. We then continued along the east ridge (which involved some moderate 3rd class scrambling) that connects Shaman Dome to The Wing. It was a beautiful day and we still had lots of energy and motivation, so after eating lunch on top of The Wing we continued east to attempt Birds Eye Peak. We first had to drop 2000' down a riverbed and then gained it all back going up Birds Eye via the south gully. This route was very straightforward and we reached the top 2.5 hours after descending The Wing. From there we reversed our trail back to a ridge south of The Wing and followed the valley back to camp. 16.5 miles and just under 9000 vertical feet for the day.
