Ascent Trip ReportClimbed after Sinister, summited just after 7pm. Our incredible weather was changing and we descended down as the mist flowed in and out creating such a mysterious and beautiful and everchanging view with the setting glowing sun.
After descending down into the white and traversing over a melting out stream, heather and rock and interspersed snow and trail we finally arrived back to our bivy camp at Itswoot Ridge by 10pm. A very long day....
As described by Brett Dyson an anchor can be built with a green and purple cam in the obvious horizontal crack just before the EXTREMELY EXPOSED knife edge. Noel led and placed the red cam just after stepping around the bulge and before crossing the breadth of the exposed ridge then attached the rope to the slings on the other side on the small summit. After a challenging and long day for me my fear level saturated I found this traverse more than terrifying....and even when prusiked onto the rope could barely muster the courage to slide forth on my belly with full friction effect and a leg on each side. No idea how people can stand on this bit of rock so airy on either side...or do it without a rope. While I have come so far I still just melt at true exposure and that comfort level is so far beyond my reach. It was only with the sincere support, encouragement and bravery of my climbing mates that I managed to literally worm across and touch the summit to only turn around and return...with utter fear drenched blubbering at the same time... It was a good thing it is rather short and the daylight was long....
