Ascent Trip Report

This was a little jaunt undertaken after an attempt on the western approach to Gilbert Peak fell through. We hiked in and camped above the PCT, then headed out in the morning to try the scramble (we undertook this route because the standard eastern approach to Gilbert is currently inaccessible, owing to a road washout). In light of several intact snowfields and scrambling more rigorous than either of us were up for, we turned around. My companion returned to camp, while I climbed a couple easy snowfields and talus to this unremarkable bump, which had some remarkable views, including Rainier, St. Helens, and Adams, plus the Mt. Daniel group, Mt. Aix, the Mt. Whittier area, and Lemei Rock.
