Ascent Trip Report

It surprised me to find that the summit of Mount Bross is on private property and there are signs at the trailhead near Kite Lake warning climbers to avoid its summit, however, my experience was that no one pays any attention to the signs and they bag this peak anyway. Most climbers bag Mount Democrat, Cameron and Lincoln first before hiking across the long saddle between Mount Cameron and Lincoln to reach Bross. I did the same thing except I had climbed Mount Democrat in 1995, so I skipped it and focused on the other 14-teeners in the area instead. It took me a little less than 6 hours to reach the summit of Mount Bross, but this includes all the time spent on the summits of Cameron and Lincoln and a long breakfast/lunch stop during the climb. From the summit of Mount Lincoln it took me 1.3 hours to reach Mount Bross, but this includes my long breakfast/lunch stop. I did not find the summit benchmark on Mount Bross, but the view to the other 14-teeners is worth the effort. Although most climbers don't add South Bross to their climbing itinerary, it is only located .61 miles to the south from Mount Bross without much elevation change and it is the lowest unofficial 14-teener at 14,000 feet even, so I hiked there before descending to the Kite Lake trailhead.
