Ascent Trip ReportThis hike turned out to be a lot longer and a lot more difficult than anticipated. I'm writing this well after the fact, but I recall it was easily going to turn into a 7-8 hour hike, maybe more. There is definitely some class 3 near the top. You loop around (or at least we did) to the west face below the summit. Lots of scree and some snow and it was steep in some areas. Lauren was uncomfortable so we turned back. I would've gone up otherwise; we were so close - maybe 20 mins, 30 mins? Great views in the valley, beautiful lakes - Herman Lake. Had a buffalo burger in Idaho Springs on the way home. |
