Ascent Trip ReportWe followed the trip reports before and went over easy pass - down to the dry creek bed as described in earlier reports. We decided to head up to the first lake, finding the slide alder the last 200 feet or so. We tried to cross the marsh but it was too wet so we hiked along the ridge to the east until we got to the end of the basin. We ended up camping there and the mosquitos were sort of bad, but not as bad as expected. There was a lot of snow around but we found sandy camp sites between the two streams - it was really a nice quiet spot.
Next day headed up to the Xmas tree col - then down and by the Banded Glacier lake. We took a direct route up the glacier which was really quite straight forward - not too steep - got to the ridge and scrambled to the top with stunning views as the weather was fantastic. Came back to the lake and choose to spend the night there again - just a beautiful place.
Third day we headed through he brushbash down to the trail and decided to head out to Thunder Creek just to enjoy new trail - it was really wonderful for the first 7-8 miles...and then got really, really long! - But we were glad to have done a different route out.
Times, left easy pass about 9:30am, leisurely up to the lake by 5pm. Summit day left at 7am, summited 11:30, back to camp at 3:00pm. 3rd day left camp at 6am got to cars at Thunder Creek by 1:45pm.
