Ascent of Ibapah Peak on 2017-06-29
|Date:||Thursday, June 29, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12087 ft / 3684 m|
Ascent Trip ReportMost people park at the second stream crossing and start there. The trailhead is almost 2 miles past that point. A quad or razr could easily get you to the trail head (posts with cables running across the trail) knocking off a lot of milage. A normal Jeep or truck probably wouldn't make it due to deep ruts. The trail is clear up to the saddle and once there the peak is another 2 miles. (The saddle is large and wide open reminding me of The Sound of Music.) March towards the minor peak between you and Ibapah Peak but there's no trail. The way is clear and you'll pick up cairns directing you to a trail near the top of the minor peak. The trail will wrap around below the peak and jet you over to switchbacks up to your goal.
Absolutely outstanding view down to the reservation, Wendover, and even Deseret Peak on a clear day.
