Ascent Trip Report

After taking a year off, Will and I started the summer of 2017 off by checking Washington off the list. Left CT for the 4.5 hour drive to Pinkham notch. We took Tuckerman Ravine to Lion's Head trail to the summit. Temps on the way up were in the 60s. As we got above tree line and made our way up to Lion's Head the low cloud cover and winds picked up tremendously. The final push to the summit Spent an hour on the summit getting some food and changing in to dry clothes.

We had one night reserved at Lakes of the Clouds hut so made our way down there via Crawford. Nice night there for the two of us. Woke up for the 7am breakfast and then head out by 7:45 to Pinkham Notch. We opted to go Camel to Davis to Boott Spur since I had never gone down that way. Very nice morning to be hiking down with some excellent views. The summit remained in clouds much of the morning. Boott Spur was a great trail down with a very long section above the tree line that offered great views over to Lion's Head, Huntington Ravine and Glen Boulder to the south. Ultimately we were down in to the trees bumping in to multiple parties making their way up (Will and I joked about how they had a looooong way to go especially the family with the young kids that were planning on hitting the and coming back down).

Another great hike that got us motivation to get in a few more this summer.
