Ascent Trip ReportI hiked Squaw Mountain after hiking Eight Dollar Mountain.
It was a very pleasant walk through open forest and meadow.
My directions differ slightly from Eric Thornton's, mostly in the name of FSR 25:
0.0 From OR Highway 199 turn west onto paved Briggs Valley Road (also signed FSR 25).
1.3 Bear Left to stay on FSR 25.
7.7 ("Four Corners") Turn Left onto FSR 2524 (gravel) at a four way junction.
8.6 Bear Left at a fork onto FSR 015
9.2 Continue Straight to stay on FSR 015.
10.9 Bear Right to stay on FSR 015.
11.2 Park on the left where FSR 725 forks left. There is room for several vehicles.
Walk the abandoned road on the right side of FSR 015. When it starts to pass the high point leave the road to your right and hike through open forest and meadow to a large stump which appears to be the summit. I found a jar on the stump with one marked sheet of paper that could be replaced with a more waterproof container and notepad and pencil.
