Ascent Trip Report

Nice moderate snowshoe hike on an ATV snowmobile trail, about 3.1 miles roundtrip. Remember, this is primarily an ATV Trail in the winter and is the highest peak in Claremont, NH, an area occupied by the Algonquin tribes before being pushed out by Europeans who now have taken the land as their own.

I stayed at the Common Man Inn in Claremont, NH the evening before - what a treat that was.

There was plenty of soft snow, but thanks to all of the snowmobiles, the snow trail was flattened out to make snowshoeing fun.

Highly recommend going past the first large cell tower with gated area to the left (and NOT left along the gated area, but rather a 75 degree left angle from the gated area), then curving to the right and up to the second tower.

The second tower is where you need to go take in the magnificent views. The first cell tower is boring!
