Ascent Trip ReportParking:
The trailhead is on Mountain Rd, off Rt 103.
Took the ANDREW BROOK TRAIL to Lake Solitude, then continued on Solitude trail to the peak of Mt Sunapee. About 6 miles up and back the same trail to the parking lot (free).
Our group hiked on this dry day after rain fell a few days prior - thus making the trail a little wet, but not wet enough to make your boots sink into the non-graveled areas. The temperature was cool, making the hike really enjoyable, but you needed a second layer when we reached Lake Solitude, a beautiful lake near the summit. We had lunch there before hiking up to Mt. Sunapee's ski restaurant (which was closed for the season) via the SOLITUDE TRAIL only to be greeted by civilization and a giant cell tower next to the ski lodge atop the mountain.
It was a good warm up hike. The sight of the cell phone tower was unsightly. I would recommend hiking to the edge overlooking Lake Solitude before returning to the parking lot if one were to take this same trail. I believe there are other trails
