Ascent Trip Report

the road is in good condition as it follows the creek through eldorado canyon. however a couple more years and the creek might do some damage in a few places. that would certainly change the distance of the hike.

after some abandoned buildings the road becomes 4x4, i shifted into low gear. there are a handful of tight steep switchbacks. i kept going until i could see the main summit climb. i stopped mostly because i wanted a bit of a hike.

my original plan was to follow the road the long way for the ascent. but a steep snow bank across the road (and continuing far downhill) made me have to choose between microspikes or a steep ascent straight up. i went for straight up, it seems many others do as well.

awesome views. awesome peak. the whole range looked interesting: if i ever run out of peaks (haha) i might have to come back to hike this ridge.
