Ascent Trip ReportThe weather over the long Memorial Day weekend was perfect to do a climb. We decided to explore the Eastern Cascades now that they were accessible. Starting on Sunday, we got to high camp (7500') in 7 hours. The boulder field is a bit sketchy when snow covered since you never know when you might just punch through and crack the family jewels (ouch!). The snow level starts around midway through the boulder field.
The next morning, we set off a little before 5 and made it to the summit by 6.30. We didn't feel a need to rope up but cramponed up for the ascent. There's a nice boottrack all the way to the summit which made things easier. Moreover, during the entire trip, we didn't encounter any open crevasses.
On the way down, some sweet glissades made it quick work to get to the boulder field and after punching though here and there a few times, we were back at the TH a little before noon.
