Ascent Trip ReportLots of snow still on the trail after the set of tight switchbacks. Used microspikes, axe, and liberal checking of my GPS before just deciding to head straight up and over the ridge. Prolly more work that way as I had to downclimb the other side to get to the "trail." East-facing snow was soft, so steps were easy to kick. West-side snow was a big ol' bowl of mush and was a pain to navigate. Summit scramble is clear, and only a few patches of snow on the top. Coming down, I just downclimbed east off the saddle and used the large snowfields to plunge-step/involuntary glissade/swear induce my way back down to the trail. 3.25 hours up (snow is slow-going), 1.25 back down.
