Ascent Trip ReportDecided to pick up this peak on our way home from the Overland Expo in Flagstaff. The road in is in deteriorating shape. We made it to the gate in our rig, but it would have been faster to walk an additional mile round trip. Lighter weight vehicles will do better. We ended up with a perfect weather day, not too hot nor cold, and just enough breeze for comfort. The previous couple of days had been very windy, and wind was also forecast for the day after our hike. We would have done better at route-finding if we had stayed IN the wash, which often appeared to be choked with brush--we alternated shoulders of the wash for much of the ascent, but we found it was pretty much clear all the way on the descent. Still, lots of brush, but also lots of flowers left over from this spring's bloom. Nice views from the top.
